New Year's Resolution

I'm terrible at keeping New Year's resolutions, so I'm sharing my goals with you to keep me accountable. This year, I'm focusing on mindfulness & health. Here goes...

Meditation

Meditation reduces stress, increases focus and creativity. There's a ton of science behind it. It's no wonder why so many CEOs and leaders make time for this exercise. I feel more productive and clear when I meditate. I just need to do it more frequently because it's super easy to do with the Headspace app I have on my iPhone. The app is straightforward, quick, and it's almost as if Andy knows exactly when my mind is about to wander and brings me back to focus.

Fun in the Sun

It's not a typical resolution, but knowing that I'll be on a beach or hanging out at a pool party will keep me motivated to stay in shape. For the past several years, my girlfriends and I head over to Vegas every Spring to get some sun and see my favorite DJ, Avicii. If I know I'm going to hang out in a bikini, I'm gonna make sure I hit the gym.

Toxic-free Beauty

It's not going to be easy to change out all my makeup to toxic-free brands, but it'll be easy to start with my lipgloss. I know that every time I apply lip gloss, there's a good chance I'm ingesting chemicals present in the lipgloss when I eat or lick my lips. It's gross and that has to stop. I recently started using lip gloss by FitGlow Beauty and I love them! It lasts just as long as my other lipgloss, it's moisturizing, and it's toxic-free!

Veggies

I like veggies, but I don't love them. Which is why a smoothie is an easy way to consume a ton of them at one sitting. My boyfriend works his magic on the Vitamix and mixes in Tangy Tangerine - a delicious multi-vitamin supplement, hemp seeds, and/or apple cider vinegar to play up the palette.

Digital Detox

As Ezra Koenig would say, "I have one vice and it's...device." The same applies to me, Ezra. I spend hours on the computer and get lost in the social media vortex on my phone. A digital detox is in order. I live in Vancouver, which is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It's a shame to waste an entire day in front of a screen.

So what do you think? Doable? I think so. Check in with me in December after my morning meditation and you'll see a kale smoothie in hand and my phone nestled away in my purse :) What are your goals this year? Jot them down in the comments below and make yourself accountable too!
